Rutabaga-Bun Spicy Orange Crispy Portobello Sando

I cannot recommend this enough as a sando!! Give it a try, and see what I mean.

Prep time: 5 minutes
Yields: 1 serving

  1. Fill Rutabaga Sando Bun with 2-3 tenders and lettuces, being careful not to overfill.
  2. Wrap together with a napkin or parchment paper if you so choose; otherwise, close the bun sides together with your hands, eat, and enjoy!

Yasmine’s notes:
For me, trying rutabaga as a sando bun for these mushroom tenders was a risk that paid off. I wasn’t initially sure that a somewhat bitter root (rutabagas are turnips, after all) would work with crispy tenders– it’s just not something people usually pair with their deep-fried snack experiences. However, this pairing happily surprised me: I was in love with the very first bite, especially with the crispy portobello tenders fresh out of the air-fryer. So, I’m hands-down curious to see what you think about this sando and whether or not you love its flavors as well– leave a comment below to share your thoughts.
